Oct 19th – Collaborative Development using Team Foundation Server w/ Mohammad Jalloul

Abstract: A successful team-based software development project has many processes that must work together smoothly to ensure an efficient working environment. The core processes include:
Development, Test, Build, Deployment and release. In this talk Mohammad Jalloul introduces you to typical functions that the development and test teams can perform with TFS and describes how you can use TFS to manage the workflow to support efficient collaboration across teams.

About the Presenter:Mohammad Jalloul is a software engineer at Myspace Inc., a social entertainment Web site where he’s responsible for integrating TFS into the different business processes and leveraging it to increase efficiency and productivity. Prior to that, he worked in Redmond in the Developer Division at Microsoft on an internal tool called Gibraltar. He can be reached through his blog at mohammadjalloul.com.

Sept 21st – F# w/ Oleksiy Tereshchenko

Abstract: F# is functional programming language. Originally, developed by Microsoft Research. Iit is fully supported by Microsoft Development Division in Visual Studio 2010. Presentation will provide overview of the language and include fundamental programming concepts. Attendees will be able to understand what it is about F# that is interesting and exciting, even if they can’t necessarily see how to apply it themselves just yet.

About the Presenter: Oleksiy Tereshchenko is a Principal Consultant with Neudesic in Connected Systems Practice. In the past 10 years Oleksiy designed solutions for Aerospace, Banking, Entertainment, Investment, Insurance, Loan, Hospitality, Health Care, and Supply-Chain industries.

Aug 17th – Building Native Mobile Apps with HTML5 and jQuery w/ Jon Flanders

Abstract: HTML5 and JQuery are the cool new kids on the block for building Web Applications. People generally prefer native mobile apps over bookmarks in mobile browsers. Why not do both?

In this session you’ll see how you can use a native mobile shell on the popular mobile platforms (iOS, Andriod, and Windows Phone 7) to host an HTML5 application and how to interact with native APIs, handle offline mode, and deal with devices with different resolutions.

About the Presenter: Jon is a member of the technical staff at MCW, where he focuses on connected systems technologies. Jon is most at home spelunking, trying to figure out how things work from the inside out. Jon is the author of RESTful.NET from O’Reilly,as well as Essential ASP for Addison-Wesley, and was a co-author of Mastering Visual Studio.NET for O’Reilly.
